As the pandemic rages (we surpassed 4000 deaths in one day) and social behavior seems to continue to reach new despicable lows, we have to stay positive about the future.
Vaccine roll-out has been slow but it is moving along. In addition, new evidence suggests that at least the Pfizer vaccine is effective against the more infectious European mutation of the SARS-Cov-2 virus. The administrative kinks are being worked out.
A new administration is taking over soon. There won’t be any massive changes for the majority of us in our daily lives, but maybe some positive change might trickle down to all of us. Attitude and hope go a long way.
I am scheduled for my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine tomorrow and I am excited. My partners, whO were vaccinated a few days earlier than I, had some increased muscle aches after the second dose. Side effects are more common after the second dose since your immune system is already primed to respond to the virus as a result of the first dose. Side effects such as aches, fever and fatigue are in fact expected and a good sign. That doesn’t mean that lack of side-effects means it isn’t working. Everyone is different.
After my shot tomorrow, my behavior is not changing. Masks and all the other protective behaviors are even more important after vaccination.
Have a great Monday and a positive week. Please continue to do all the important things which keep you, and everyone else safe.
