Fish Oil Supplements Do Not Protect Against Heart Attacks

Fish oil supplements do not prevent heart attacks or strokes in those with type 2 diabetes, according to research published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Researchers gave 15,480 type 2 diabetes patients without heart disease fish oil supplements or a placebo and compared cardiovascular event occurrences, including heart attacks, strokes, or death from heart disease. The results showed no significant difference between groups for cardiovascular disease events. These results support previous findings that showed no benefit of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation for heart disease prevention. The authors suggest removing recommendations for fish oil supplements in current clinical guidelines.

Dear Andrew Monsanto’s cancer-causing chemical glyphosate shouldn’t be anywhere near our food. Sadly, some of the highest levels were in products marketed to kids like Quaker’s Dinosaur Egg Instant Oatmeal.

Get Glyphosate Out of Our Food! | Add Your Name Dear Andrew,

Monsanto’s cancer-causing chemical glyphosate shouldn’t be anywhere near our food.

But EWG’s bombshell report revealed shockingly high levels of glyphosate in popular cereals, granola bars and oatmeal. Sadly, some of the highest levels were in products marketed to kids like Quaker’s Dinosaur Egg Instant Oatmeal.

In the face of EWG’s new report, companies like Quaker are defending their products saying the levels of glyphosate detected are 100 percent legal.

Legal does NOT equal safe. In fact, the Environmental Protection Agency’s legal limit on glyphosate is 7,000 times higher than EWG’s health benchmark.

Companies like Quaker have a simple choice. Either continue to sell food contaminated with a cancer-causing chemical or do the right thing and ensure all their products are free of glyphosate.

Stand with EWG and tell Quaker, General Mills and Kellogg’s to get cancer-causing glyphosate out of our food!

EWG’s new report comes just days after a San Francisco jury ordered Monsanto to pay $289 million in damages after finding glyphosate played a key role in causing a school groundskeeper’s cancer. This is just one of thousands of similar suits filed since the World Health Organization declared glyphosate a probable carcinogen in 2015.

The EPA still claims glyphosate is not likely to cause cancer. That’s not surprising since Monsanto was caught attempting to collude with the EPA to cover up glyphosate’s carcinogenic risks. Consumers can’t count on the government to keep us safe from chemicals like glyphosate.

We need to hold food companies accountable for the chemicals in their products. Stand with EWG and call on mega-corporations like Quaker, General Mills and Kellogg’s to get glyphosate out of our food!

SIGN THE PETITION: Get Monsanto’s cancer-causing chemical out of our food! Food companies need to make sure their products are free of glyphosate before they’re sold in stores!

Thanks for standing with us, Andrew.
