There are some reports out there about “new” symptonms of coronavirus to be aware of. The fact is that ANY respiratory inflamatory process can cause loss of smell and taste because of swelling in the nose. Colds, Flu, allergiesβ¦ So don;t panic if you develop these. The triad of symptomns to be worried about is fever, cough and breathing difficulties. If you don;t have all three, STAY HOME.
However, all coronavirus species, including the ones that have been around forever causing mild cold symptoms, are particularly toxic to the olfactory (smell) nerve endings in the nose. A small % of people who deveop this symtom may have it permanently. Nothing you can do about it. Don’t panic.
Say well.

A good friend of mine reached out yesterday to see how I was faring during this pandemic. It’s always great to hear from people and I appreciate the concern. She also shared with me a recent messgage from Pope Francis.
“Tonight before falling asleep
think about when we will return to the street.
When we hug again,
when all the shopping together will seem like a party.
Letβs think about when the coffees will return to the bar,
the small talk, the photos close to each other.
We think about when it will be all a memory
but normalcy will seem an unexpected and beautiful gift.
We will love everything that has so far seemed futile to us.
Every second will be precious.
Swims at the sea, the sun until late,
sunsets, toasts, laughter.
We will go back to laughing together.
Strength and courage.
See you soon! “
This pandemic will pass. Some will not make it through but most will and hopefully with a new appreciation for what we have. Hopefully we will appreciate more how much we are and everything else around us is interconnected and how much we impact one another.
Perhaps that renewed appreciation can start now.
Stay healthy and safe.
Enjoy your families.
