MOTRIN AND COVID-19
There is some information flying around out there that people who take Motrin (ibuprofen) are at greater risk of contracting coronavirus and have a harder time recovering if they get infected.
Everything I have read and heard thus far has not indicated that this is a big issue, unless of course you are abusing this, or any other non steroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID).
All NSAIDs, including Motrin, aleve, ibuprofen… decrease inflammation but also suppress your immune system a little bit. An occasional dose is probably inconsequential but if you take it regularly for aches and pains, I would switch to acetaminophen (Tylenol) which does not have this effect. The more you suppress your immune system, the more the virus has a chance of taking hold rather than your immune system identifying it and destroying it.
Tylenol also does not impact on your stomach and intestinal lining as much as NSAIDs do.
Have a safe weekend and stay well.
